Goji berry and Steamed Rehmannia are two of the primary Jing tonic herbs used in Chinese tonic herbalism. They are both superb Yin Jing tonics that tonify the Kidney Yin. Goji berry is singularly the most popular tonic herb used throughout Asia. It restores Jing and helps build strong blood. It supports the metabolic functions and supports the immune system. It supports the eyes and vision, and has been shown to support other senses as well. It is renowned for its mood supporting effects. And it is one of the primary herbs used to strengthen sexual functions in both healthy aging men and healthy aging women.
Steamed Rehmannia is said to be the "Kidney's own food". It is a fundamental Kidney tonic in Chinese tonic herbalism. It is found in a great many common tonic formulations for aging men and women (typically set in China at above fifty). It is considered rejuvenating. Steamed Rehmannia is a fundamental Yin Jing tonic, providing Yin support to the Kidney. It is quick and effective. Steamed Rehmannia is said to benefit sexual functions in men and women. Eucommia, Cistanche and Morinda are three of the finest Yang Jing tonics produced by Nature. They are the three truly elite vegetable-source Yang tonic herbs in the Chinese herbal system. Cistanche, Eucommia and Morinda tonify the Kidney Yang and with Achyranthes, invigorate sexual functions and strengthen the bones and ligaments, especially those of the back and knees. Dioscorea, Broussonetia and Schizandra further nourish the Kidney. Lycium, Schizandra, Achyranthes, Broussonetia, steamed Rehmannia and Cornus all strengthen the Liver and promote visual function.

Polygala opens the connecting channel between the Kidney and Heart, giving the organism a greater ability to process the emotions of love, passion, will, courage and fear.
Fennel, Poria and Dioscorea all tonify the Spleen and Stomach function. Dioscorea, Poria and Broussonetia support the circulation of fluids in the body. Jujube is a Spleen tonic which harmonizes the herbs so they function well together.

Return to Youth Formula is so widely consumed in China that many domestic herb factories produce it. Most of this production uses low grade herbs for price reasons. Many of the peasants of China take Return to Youth Formula, so many factories produce it with very cheap materials so that it costs just pennies.
Dragon Herbs does not use low grade, less effective, raw materials for Return to Youth Formula or any of its products. Production technology also matters. Most factories just throw the herbs into a tank and cook the whole thing for a couple of hours, then they make a powdered extract of the tea using a lot of excipient (usually not natural). Dragon Herbs uses low temperature extraction using very pure water and no chemicals. They add the herbs carefully at incremental stages. Some of the herbs in Return to Youth Formula can only be cooked for a few minutes. These "short cook" herbs are cooked separately and carefully and added at the end. For example, the Schizandra in Return to Youth Formula must be cooked just for a few minutes at most because of its aromatic oil content.
One very important process that most factories skip involves the collection of aromatic oils from the tea. Real Return to Youth Formula has a sweet-earthy aroma. This is from the aromatic oils in the herbs. If the herbs are overcooked and the oils are allowed to evaporate, the true power of Return to Youth Formula cannot be achieved - even if good quality herbs are used.
Dragon Herbs always processes it herbs using an "oil trap". An oil trap is a sophisticated device connected to the extraction system. It captures evaporating aromatic oils and collects them in crystallized form. These collected essential oils are therefore not lost. They are added back into the extract at the end of the process.
